The zone spreads over 1,173 hectares, which has mixed forests of Sal, Rohini, Haldu, Bahera, Kusum vegetation, tigers, leopards, Asiatic elephants, sloth bears, and king cobras. The area is particularly rich in bird diversity.

Garjiya Devi Temple

Govt Approved Canter Safari in Corbett

Welcome to Dhikala Canter Safari Booking in Corbett National Park. Visitors can book Canter Safari online for Dhikala Zone of Corbett National Park. All Canter Safari booking procedures at Corbett are managed by the forest officials as per the Indian Forest Department guidelines. Please note that we cannot influence the safari area, safari driver, and naturalist tour guide as this is beyond our control.

This is decided solely by the forest officials. Although in all the zones the tiger population is stable and wildlife sightings are about the same. All these aspects are managed by an automated computerized system to ensure the even distribution of safari vehicles in the respective areas. This is an additional standard for travel to Dhikala, the deepest area of Corbett National Park. Here, the park administration conducts a safari with canters in two shifts. The first one is from 06:00 AM during sunrise and the other is in the afternoon from 1200 AM. Both are around 05:00 AM extensive to enjoy this canter safari. For those visitors who have not been able to get a reservation at any FRZ in the Dikala area, this is the only way to explore the Dikala Forest, even if they are staying outside the park at a resort.


Dhikala Canter safari in Corbett is the best way to explore the Dhikala forest when you are staying outside the Corbett Tiger Reserve, Gypsy tours are not allowed in the Dhikala area during the day. However, you can travel in this area by canter which takes 18 passengers and departs from Ramnagar in the morning and afternoon respectively. Whichever boat went to Dhikala in the morning returns to base in the afternoon and the afternoon boat returns to base in the evening. These tours are called Ramganga-conducted tours and are authorized by the Corbett Tiger Reserve. The Dhikala area of Corbett National Park is perhaps the best for wildlife viewing in their natural habitat. The vast expanses of grasslands called “Chaurs” are the attraction of this area of the park. The meandering Ramga River adds to the beauty of the landscape and provides the necessary water for all wild animals. The dam is part of the largest man-made lake to feed the Kalagarh Hydroelectric Project.


Apart from the network of lookout towers located at the edge of the forest, which can be reached by 4-wheeler jeeps, an elephant ride is available from Dhikala for wildlife viewing. The location of Dhikala Forest Lodge makes up for the basic accommodation – although these facilities have been greatly improved – the hotel is deep in the heart of the forest and wildlife can be watched from the verandah of your room. The rooms at Dhikala have been refurbished but are still basic according to generally accepted standards. Note: In addition to the above number of safaris, two-boat safaris (16 seats in a boat) are allowed, especially in the Dikala tourist area. The Park Wildlife Authority or Park Warden may revoke your permission for good and sufficient reasons, which must be recorded in writing.

To request a reservation, please provide us with the following details:

  1. The full name, age, and gender of each visitor as printed on the identity cards to be provided along with the confirmation amount.
  2. Preferred date of travel and duration of the safari (morning/afternoon).
  3. A specific number of your ID card (“Voter Id”, “Aaadhar No”, “Driving license No” etc.).
  4. Prepaid safari entry fee.
  5. E-permits are non-refundable if the permit is reserved/confirmed.
  6. Please carry the same ID presented during online booking.
  7. Please notify us 30 days in advance (for Indian citizens).
  8. Foreign nationals can request a reservation 90 days in advance.
  9. Passport details are mandatory for foreign tourists’ booking.
  10. The safari permit is issued on a first-come, first-served basis (subject to availability).

What is the most suitable time to see the Tiger?

Four hours are given for the jungle safari of both sessions. In these four hours, one hour which has the most important to see the tiger is from six o’clock in the morning to seven o’clock in the morning, from six o’clock in the evening to seven o’clock in the evening.

This one hour time applies to all regions of Jim Corbett Park, where people go on a jungle safari.

When does Jim Corbett Park close?

The closing time of Jim Corbett Park is from 1 July to 15 October, but during this time only five out of seven zones are closed and two zones are open throughout the year.
Regions that remain closed for five months: Dhikala, Durgadevi.
Regions that remain closed for four months: Bijrani, Ringora, and sitavani
Regions that remain open throughout the year: Jhirna and Dhela.

Which zones are good to see tigers?

Depends on the jungle’s movement during jeep safari and canter safari, according to the last session DHELA and JHIRNA region was classic to see the tiger.

Can I visit all the zones with one entry permit?

Entry permits are issued for a specific tourism zone. Safari is permitted only for the specific zone booked for. Other zones shall remain out of bounds for the visitor.
